S4 Yearbooks

Working on the books for ENS today.  Drafted up a student page to see what kind of design/layout might work this year.  Here's what I'm thinking.....

.....I think after adding a graphic or textured background, this should look pretty nice.  I like this for the way it preserves the artwork and personalizes the page since no two should be exactly identical.  Well, at least it's a start!

Masters of Spinjitzu Party

Ninja Go!!!!
I now know more about Lego Ninjago than I ever thought possible.  This one was fun to put together because it all had to be created from scratch since no one offers a Ninjago party package yet.  I put together an invitation using a picture from Lego.com and the "Last Ninja" font.

First up were cupcakes for his class.  Kept it very simple and just made little toppers using pictures of each of the four ninjas glued onto lollipop sticks.

Onto party day!  When it came to decorations,  I focused mostly on the red ninja - Kai - because he's my 7 year old's favorite.  I made a banner using the ninja font in black, added yellow Ninja eyes and printed it on red paper.  (The eyes were easy to do - only needed to design the eyes and eyebrows in black, printed on yellow paper, cut the shape and then used white out to color in the pupils)

I didn't go all out on table settings/decorations this time since we were just doing cupcakes and needed the table clear before and after so the boys could set up the Ninjago arenas and have their Spinjitzu competitions.  I did get some red paper cups and glued on some smaller ninja eyes.  When put next to the jumbo cupcakes with their larger toppers of each Ninja (and Sensei Wu) it all looked pretty nice.

I used plain red gift bags for the favors, less than $.25 each!  I glued on cut outs of the ninja eyes and made a few marks with a sharpie to depict the folds in the fabric of the ninja hood.  I used the same pictures of each character to make a name tag for the back of each boys gift bag.

Another set of ninja eyes glued to a balloon and the bags were ready to be filled with a Lego brick keychain light, a minifigure, Ninjago stickers, a Hershey bar in a wrapper I designed and a ninja headband personalized with each boys name.

The headbands were a hit when the boys all put them on and acted out their own Ninjago Spinjitzu battles with foam swords!  Super easy to do - found headbands in the craft section of Walmart for $1 each and used a fabric sharpie to trace over print outs of each boys name in the ninja font.  Fun way to go instead of party hats for this one!  The last part, as always, is the thank you note.  Used the red ninja again, added some text and used the resulting picture to order some postcards.

My little Ninja was a happy guy at the end of the day and that alone makes it all worthwhile!!
